Morning Stretches!

Please meet our beautiful teacher Claire featured here in this wonderful shot of her stretching out! Under the current corona virus restrictions we wanted to share a few quick tips to help you start the morning on the right side! We all know the benefits of a good night sleep, the back stretches out, gravity doesn’t push down our spines and we usually wake up refreshed.

To top this off even before you jump out of bed, why not help your self even more by releasing tightness and welcoming gentle movement? A quick morning stretch can be really easy because your body simply wants to.

  1. Gently stretch out your arms back behind the head moving gently from side to side.
  2. Move them a little to the left, a little to the right.
  3. Release the arms back to the body. 
  4. Move the shoulders, lift them toward the ears and drop them back down, again add a little shrug.
  5. Try bending at the elbows and placing your hands on your shoulder and rotating them around.
  6. Stretch out through the legs to the toe tips and release.
  7. Lets wake up the face, try giving yourself a little face massage- especially for us that grind or clench our jaw in the night- simply use the index and middle finger in a circular motion to massage up and back along the jaw line just gently.
  8. Exercise the lips with a gentle smile.
  9. Now you are ready to leave your bed (if you haven’t already).
  10. A simple kindness to the facia tissue and muscles, activating circulation, and releasing stiffness that arrives while we sleep.
