Maree is a teacher who cares about the communities she finds herself in and does what she can to bring her yoga to those who most need it.
She has spent 5 years as a volunteer for Think Pink (Caring for the Breast cancer community) initially as a Hatha Yoga Teacher based at the centre and then through Covid and after presenting a Zoom Meditation class with a great bunch of participants. She is currently teaching Chair Yoga and Meditation.
She has worked in the field of health and health promotion for over 4 decades as a Registered Nurse, Yoga and Meditation teacher and more recently as a Bowen Therapist. She stumbled across a local yoga class some 25 years ago and became hooked on the feelings of strength and balance that it provided, as well as the sense of peace and relaxation.
Maree strongly believes that you don’t need to be a bendy pretzel (or be seated in Lotus position), to experience the benefits of yoga and meditation. It is a practice that is accessible to everyone, open to all abilities and can even be practised seated in a chair, regardless of how flexible or inflexible you think you may be.
“I feel so grateful and inspired that I am able to see and hear every week that practising these skills and techniques is making a difference! Of course, I am also learning from our participants during these classes. “
After competing Kundalini Teacher in 2005 she has gone on to study Yin Yoga and Advance Yin Yoga with Leonie Lockwood, and then iRest Meditation Yoga Nidra from Integrative Restoration Institute and Restorative Yoga with Katie Brown
